Several local courts in Bavaria are introducing electronic files

virtual7 and the Bavarian State Tax Office (LfSt) announce a first success in the digitalization of the Bavarian justice administration. On November 27, 2023, the local courts of Kaufbeuren, Kempten (Allgäu), Lindau and Sonthofen will switch to the electronic file in civil matters. The aim is to ensure the introduction of the electronic file (eFile) at all Bavarian courts by the end of 2025. virtual7 is assuming responsibility for the electronic integration portal (eIP), which acts as the hub for the eFile. ”

This is our centerpiece for the introduction of the electronic file. eIP is the platform on which the electronic file runs, which is made available to all courts and public prosecutors’ offices ,” says Alexandra Engl, who has overall responsibility for judicial operations at the LfSt computer center. All Bavarian regional courts and higher regional courts are now using the e-file in civil matters. Following the nationwide introduction of electronic legal transactions at state level, this represents a further step towards the digitalization of the Bavarian judiciary. To date, 67 of the 75 Bavarian district courts have already worked with the e-file. By the end of the year, all other local courts should also introduce the eFile in regular operation.
