virtual7 team collaborates once again with Bavarian State Ministry of Justice in the area of operational support for Middleware and Databases

(Karlsruhe, 26.10.20) This year, virtual7 was once again commissioned for a project at the Bavarian State Tax Office’s Justice Department. A project team consisting of three virtual7 employees will develop project-specific solutions in the future using agile working methods.

With the documents submitted, the IT and consulting company was able to win the selection process in advance and was also awarded the tendered project this year. The Computing Center North (RZ Nord) at the Bavarian State Tax Office is a service data center for Bavarian authorities. For the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice (StMJ), the RZ Nord operates the central applications with the required storage systems for data storage.

The solution for operational support for middleware and databases in justice operations is intended to continuously ensure trouble-free operation of the specialized procedures and also achieve further optimization of the operating environment. The aim is to ensure that operational disruptions that lead to far-reaching impairments are minimized. In addition to operational support services, the focus of business operations there is on providing emergency support and more extensive consulting services.

The virtual7 team was selected as the service provider because of its experience, competence and capability to support operations in various areas.

The submitted documents were evaluated as representative. The assigned scope of tasks goes beyond a sole product support. In addition to specialist knowledge of the middleware and database components used, the support services must be available at short notice.

In addition to the database and middleware components, the operational interface to the specialist judicial procedures used is a key task. The maximum framework agreement term of 5 years is justified by the complexity of the tasks involved in operational support and the specialized procedures of the justice system. This ensures long-term commitment and continuity. Due to the proven know-how in dealing with the specialized procedures of the justice system, virtual7 was able to successfully set itself apart from its competitors. Factors such as security, access control and access control are just as important as the high availability and reliability of the solution. In order to achieve high user acceptance of the solution, special attention is paid to the operating system level (usually Suse Linux Enterprise, Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and the connection to data center-typical storage solutions (NAS/SAN) throughout the project. In the development of the solution, emphasis is placed on the components Oracle databases (Oracle BD Enterprise 12c), Oracle and open source middleware (Oracle WebLogic 12c, Oracle SOA Suite 12c, JBoss / WildFly, Tomcat) and container technologies (Docker, Open Shift,). In the context of operational support, the independent processing of concrete tasks from these subject areas is required.
